RCA Victor "All Transistor" Stereo Cabinet

This is my first post on this site, so here goes:

This is the first cabinet I ever owned. I acquired it as a project but Kitty and I loved it so much that we just couldn't bring ourselves to upgrade it - not that it needed it.

When we first got it, there were a few problems with it, the antenna didn't work, the record player didn't spin at the right RPM - it was about a revolution and a half off of where it should be - and the needle needed to be replaced.

After putting in some time fixing the record player, it now spins at a perfect 33 revolutions per minute (as it should) and it has a brand new Ortophone cartridge in it.

The cabinet, finished in a solid walnut (not veneer) and made by Victorcraft, is in excellent shape. There is a small nick on the front, however, considering its previous life as a carpet weight in someones living room, it doesn't get much better than this.

The turntable in the unit is a Dual 1009, which is a vast improvement from the typical Garrard or BSR turntables that you find in most Stereo cabinets (particularly in Electrohome cabinets). The 1009 is known for its incredibly heavy platter, which ensures smooth spinning and noticeably reduces skipping. It has three speed settings, 16, 33, and 45. Earlier RCA cabinets often came with a lesser quality "BSR" record player.

As indicated in the title of this post, the stereo boasts of having all transistor circuitry, which allows for the modern convenience of AFC signal lock in for FM reception.

As I say, the cabinet is in fantastic shape. Its a truly unique unit and would look great in a retro living room or "man-cave."
